I wrote a essay about the story read at literature class, "The Prision" by Bernard Malamud. Here is my work:   "The prision" written by Bernard Malamud is about a man who works in a candy store, and one of his cotumers is a little girl who steals from him. In this essay the themes of this story, which are "Life as a prision" and "Hope for a change" will be analized.    In the theme "Life as a prision" Tommy Castelli feels his life is a prision because he is married to the woman he does not love  (Rosa) and he has to work in a place he does not want to (he wanted to be a shoemaker) This can also make reference to the fact that Tommy's uncle is in prision. "He cursed the candy store and Rosa and cursed, from it's begginig, his unhappy life."
